THE 80th anniversary of the raising of the flagship of the German High Seas Fleet, SMS Hindenberg is to be marked in Lyness on Friday, when the man responsible for the salvaging of much of the German Fleet will also be recognised.
It is planned for a plaque to be put in place at Lyness marking the
achievements of Ernest Cox, which has been organised by the Scapa Flow
Landscape Partnership Scheme and supported by Orkney Islands
Council.
The small plaque dedication ceremony will take place on Friday and will be attended by his Grandson, Jon Moore, who is coming up from England with six family members.
