Marine Services launches 2011 celebrations webpage

ORKNEY Islands Council's Marine Services has launched a new webpage to
keep the community updated on plans for celebrating 2011.
This will include information about the 200-year anniversary of
Kirkwall Pier and The Tall Ships Races which it's hoped will attract
race competitors and enthusiasts to the county.
OIC transport and infrastructure committee chairman Councillor Jim
Foubister, who is also chairman of the 2011 Celebrations Working Group,
said: "We are working at pulling together something special for the
community and visitors for the 200 year anniversary of the Kirkwall
Pier, and tying it in with the Tall Ships Race as the two events
coincide.
"This new webpage will be the central point of information and as the
celebrations programme develops and will be updated on a regular basis."
