16/07/2010 09:10:00

COMEDIAN Ed Byrne is hoping to warm up an Orkney audience when he performs at the New Phoenix Cinema on Sunday, October 31.
The Irish stand-up's Warming Up In The Cold tour includes six dates in Scotland in October, with the final and northernmost gig taking place in Orkney.

Ed's observational comedy is unrivalled and his UK tours are always hugely popular and well received by the critics. He has played in major comedy venues across the UK and Ireland and has also found huge success on the international circuit, where he has performed to capacity audiences at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and at festival and tour gigs in Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Belgium and New Zealand.

Ed often appears as a guest on television panel shows including Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You, and he has been a presenter on such shows as Ed Byrne's Just for Laughs, which ran for four series. He has also made memorable appearances on shows such as Graham Norton's Bigger Picture and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Ed is also developing a radio show for the BBC.

Film appearances include the role of Rudolph in RAT, a cameo in I Could Never Be Your Woman, a co-lead role in Are You Ready For Love and the lead role in Zemanovaload.

His television acting roles include a grungy teenager in the Father Ted Christmas Special, Mickey Moran in Doctors, and Aladdin in the ITV/LWT Christmas Day Panto opposite Patsy Kensit. He has also done voiceover work in prominent television ad campaigns, and appeared in the theatre and on the radio.

Tickets cost £15 and are available now from Grooves or seetickets.com.
