National finals victory for Orkney netballers

ORKNEY'S senior county netballers have won the Evelyn Beattie Quaich,
one of the five trophies being competed for during Netball Scotland's
Scottish Cup Finals Day.
Orkney beat Holyrood Thistles 32-29 in Saturday morning's final at the
Aberdeen Sports Village, which began at the very early time of 9.30am.
Shona Slater captained Orkney to their win, which follows group matches
where they beat Hamilton and Galloway and drew with Bellahouston.
Orkney progressed through the quarter- and semi-final stages after two
teams from the Harmony Row club in Glasgow failed to fulfil their
fixtures.
